This is the first day that I begin Affiliate Marketing in a serious way, so I consider it my second beginning. Let me explain. I tried to make money online on December 08, a year from now. That's when I first found out about Affiliate Marketing.
I know about web programming because I studied that on college and I really like it. So I thought that because of this Affiliate Marketing was going to be easy, a piece of cake.... if people that don't know anything about programming are doing it and earning big bucks then, heck!, I 'll be a millionaire soon.... Yeah Right!!!
Affiliate Marketing is all about marketing (hence the name of it...). It can be of great help if you know programming and web design, but it's not all. I found out the great affiliate marketers hire people to program for them, design their webpages and even write articles for them.
But, since cash is what I'm lacking of, I still can't outsource those things. I did many mistakes when I started back in 08. Some times when you are dealing with Affiliate Marketing your mistakes cost money.... specially if you are doing PPC (pay per click promotion). So I was doing PPC and got burned... Mainly because I was using a landing page that was not optimized for my traffic. But back then I didn't know about that.
I started with the energy niche. Yes Renewable Energy is a big market and there's a lot of money to make from it if you know how. I started promoting a product named Earth4Energy from Clickbank. It is a great product with a very convincing sales page (tip 1: if you read the sales letter of a product you want to promote and you actually think of buying without having a need for it, then imagine how people searching for that product will react: they will convert [converting is an expression in Affiliate Marketing that means converting from prospect to buyer]...)
